A great snowshoeing or hiking adventure takes time. That is why you don’t see any 2 hour trips on our site. Try to give yourself a good part of the day- at least 4 hours- and we’ll do our best to give you a great experience.

Price: $160 1-2 people ($25 each extra person up to 4)

Group Rates: $35 per person for 5+ people

Summer Trips: We offer many destinations, but here are two that we really enjoy.

Aspen Glen Meadows Hike- This is actually one our WTW hiking days and is point-to-point so there’s no repeat of terrain. We’ll park cars on either end. The route begins at the northern end of the park near the Aspen Glen Campground before winding its way south through three beautiful meadows: Little Horseshoe Park, Beaver Meadows and Moraine Park. There is much to see on this route, yet there is very little traffic. The trail is moderate in difficulty with no hard ups or downs and gives a good introduction to Rocky Mountain National Park. 8.5 miles (can be shortened).
How to Hike- We like to do this hike going up Flattop Mountain as it gives us the opportunity to show you how to pace, pack and manage your time as well as giving you a mountaintop experience. Learning some basic elements of “how to hike” can make hiking in the future much more enjoyable. Flattop sits on the Continental Divide with views in all directions. It is 9 miles total with 2,849 feet of vertical gain.

The Place for Real Boots

The Warming House believes that boots are the most important piece of gear you will purchase and has built a reputation on selling high quality leather boots. The outdoor industry works hard to promote lightweight, junky, sneaker-style footwear.

Don’t fall for this. A solid, over-the-ankle boot may weigh slightly more, but there is no comparison to the protection it will give your feet, ankles and joints.

Below are several of our best boots. Boot prices have gone up. The Warming House has taken as many ordering discounts as possible and passed them on to the consumer. We want you in real boots. Fitting is also important. Just because a boot is right for one person doesn’t mean it’s right for another. Feet are different.

When you’re ready for real boots, come and see us. If you have favorite socks or wear an orthotic, bring them. Make sure you have time- it takes time.

Lowa Baffin Pro

As far as we’re concerned this German-made, full leather boot is the best boot on the planet. It is slightly taller which makes snugging it around the ankle much easier and more comfortable. There is a rand around the base and toe box for durability and protection. Although this is a heavy-duty boot, it has surprising flexibility across the toe box and seldom has a difficult break-in. We can’t say enough about the mid-sole which protects the feet. This is the boot of choice for the Warming House staff. I have over 2,000 miles on each of my two pair, both of which have been resoled and are ready to go again. My boots are so comfortable that I wear them to church.

Asolo TPS 535

The Asolo TPS 535 is the best value boot in our store and is one of our best sellers. It has a cambrelle synthetic lining which accounts for its lower price-tag. This boot has a full, one-piece leather outer with a good Vibram resolable sole. This boot is lighter than you would expect and fits a wide variety of feet. Price: $225

Lowa Trekker and Lady Sport

The Lowa Men’s Trekker and Women’s Lady Sport is a full-leather, leather-lined stitched boot. If you’re hard on footwear and do a lot of off-trail hiking then a one-piece leather is preferred. But for people who stay mostly on the trail and are looking for a high quality boot with an easier flex, give this a try. We carry 3 widths. Price: $265 (Suggested Retail: $280)

Lowa Women’s Albula

When purchasing a good pair of boots, try on as many different styles as possible. It will help make you see the differences and make a better choice. This Lowa women’s boot is not our best seller, but it is a solid boot with a leather-lining and a good Vibram sole and every now and then it fits the bill. Price: $260 (Suggested Retail: $275)

Lowa Renegade

We sell lots of these. Keep in mind that the Renegade is not in the same catagory of heavier-duty boots as the boots listed above, but it deserves special mention. We get new hikers and light hikers who are making their first hiking boot purchase and are probably coming from a low-cut. The Renegade had all the good stuff: leather, leather-lining, over-the-ankle support, Vibram sole. All this in a lighter, easy-to-break-in boot. Price: $210

Whether it’s a family, a girlfriend getaway or couples traveling together, we’ve taken the work out of the planning. This 3 night vacation provides lodging the spacious and beautiful AspenHaus Lodge located 2 miles from Footpaths of the World and The Warming House.

This trip also includes a guided snowshoe trip which includes: guide, snowshoes and poles, overboots (if needed) and hot chocolate on the trail. This is a private trip which is catered especially for you. All trips use whatever packed trail is available to get up and off-trail snowshoeing on the way down. This is the part you’ll love.

Once you’ve had your trip, rental snowshoes and route maps are available for self-guided days at $8 per person. We’ll get you all set up.
